Hair loss or balding can trigger psychological stress, and it is one of the most common problems among men as they age. Hair loss or balding can trigger psychological stress, and it is one of the most common problems among men as they age. However, hair loss can occur in younger patients and females too. There are various factors that can trigger hair loss such as genetics, stress, several diseases, medications, and environmental factors, excessive use of hair styling chemicals, excessive tension to the scalp and hair can cause damage to the hair follicles.
In male-pattern baldness, excessive hair loss occurs, and in female pattern baldness, hair becomes very thin. Although various methods can treat hair loss with different success rates but all are effective in its early stages. People who have passed the early stages of hair loss get the best results from hair transplantation if they are looking for a long-lasting solution for this concern.
Hair transplantation is one of the best and effective treatments for hair loss or balding. During this process, hair follicles are collected from hair rich areas of the head and transplanted to the bald or hair loss area of the head. The tissues that are present in the root of the hair is made up of keratin protein. Transplanted hair retains the characteristics of regeneration through this treatment, as they have previously. Therefore, transplanted hair gains the power of hair production for a lifetime. Each individual has different requirement of grafts that basically depends on the grade of hair loss and age of the patient.
This transplantation procedure is in practice for the last 60 to 70 years, and many modifications took place in recent years. There are two main techniques that surgeons use for hair transplant:
But with the advancement in technology, the new robotic hair transplant “HARRTS Mini or Human Assisted Rapid Robotic Hair Transplant System,” a minimally invasive method of hair transplantation provides brilliant results to the patient looking for hair transplantation.
FUT or strip method is the traditional way of hair transplantation. The follicular unit is an anatomic entity that involves small groups of hair, and these follicles are responsible for hair growth. In this treatment, follicular units are obtained from the hair rich area of the head. This procedure allows the transplantation of a maximum number of follicular units to the non-hair bearing scalp skin. These hair follicular units provide successful transplantation in a completely natural way. Severe hair loss can be effectively treated with the FUT method.
This method is also known as strip grafting. In the first step, the donor area is trimmed and is numbed with an anesthetic. Local anesthesia is administered at the recipient site or balding site. The strip of donor tissue is removed surgically, and then the incision is sutured together. Then with the help of a special powerful microscope, the donor tissue is dissected, and micrografts or follicular units are prepared. Each graft is made up of hair follicular units, which consists of one to four hair strands. Small tiny incisions are made on the balding area and in an irregular pattern so that the hair growth takes place in a natural manner. Then the extracted follicular units are placed strategically in those tiny incisions carefully.
After the FUT procedure, one can feel tightness in the scalp and pain in the treated area. One must take prescribed pain medications and care as guided by their surgeon. Taking care of stitches of FUT treatment should be similarly followed as other surgeries. The patient can do regular activities after 2-3 days, but strenuous physical activities must be avoided for a few weeks. The patient can notice the growth of new hair after about three months of the treatment.
This is a modern technique for hair transplantation. In this method, hair grafts or follicles are obtained from the donor area of the head and are then placed into the hair loss area by making slits. The extraction of hair follicles is done one by one. Thus, it is more time taking and expensive procedure than FUT but provides better results. This method does not leave any visible scar and causes less pain than FUT treatment. This treatment is not appropriate for the patient suffering from severe hair loss.
The surgeon sterilizes the area to be treated and then shaves the area from where the grafts will be extracted. Then both the donor and recipient areas are numbed. Then a tiny punch tool is used for extracting hair follicles. Hair follicles are isolated gently one by one to avoid any scarring or visible thinning. Remained minuscule dots are almost invisible. Then slit is made, and then the surgeon makes small holes in the scalp according to the length of the graft. Then the graft is implanted in the created holes using implanter or forceps. Then the surgical site is covered with bandages or gauze.
It will take 3 to 5 days for recovery. No stitches are present on the head; however, scabbing may occur after transplantation that will go away in a few days. The healing process in FUE treatment is faster than FUT. The patient can perform their regular activities on the same day after treatment (but one must follow the post-op care as guided by their surgeon).
To perform hair transplant surgery this system uses the latest mechanical software technology and data management system. The procedure takes less time than FUE because it extracts grafts by using a defined penetration depth consistency. The system consists of a low-speed handpiece and high torque to make this process safe, accurate, and fast. This method accurately harvests the follicular unit graft that increases graft life and also saves time. This system has a cold bio-fluid storage canister around the handpiece that helps prevent graft desiccation and gives a high survival rate to the graft in the cold temperature.
The image-guided system that consists of a robotic arm conducts a successful FUE hair transplant procedure. This process also has an engaging auto implanter that eliminates the need for human manipulation of graft engagement. This process is also helpful in eliminating the need to create skin cuts and graft oozing. Thus, this procedure saves time and is also helpful for preventing the risks of scarring. This procedure does not involve any tweezers or instrumental elements that support for increasing the survival rate of the graft and involves a robotic piston-type implanter which is self engaged and able to implant graft. So, one can experience and totally touch-free graft implantation.
This procedure contains multipara monitors, focusing LED lights and emergency equipment that makes the hair transplantation process very easy, safe, and provides excellent results. Patients are comfortable during the extraction and implantation of hair grafts due to the design of the device. This procedure uses micro-grafts instead of staple and pin that results is no visible scarring. This procedure is less invasive, and customization of grafting and punch size depends on the patient. This procedure takes less time and is less painful. Patients can go for their regular activities after this treatment. Recovery time is low, and the patient can wash their hair just after one day of the surgery (as guided by the surgeon).
During this procedure, local anesthesia is applied to the scalp. Grafts are harvested through a robotic handpiece. The robotic hair transplantation provides a handpiece with high torque, low and safe speed for graft extraction. Unique designing of the punch also ensures accuracy and safety of depth and prevents the scalp skin from trauma. Grafts are collected into a canister after the graft extraction process and further stored in cooled bio-fluid storage. Then, a robotic implanter places grafts into the targeted or affected area of the head. Patients can experience hair growth results after the first three months of the treatment. It may take one year for full hair growth.
